Contractor Control on Site Is Non-Optional

If contractors work under your direction, their safety is part of your operating system.

Signature sheets are not control

Induction quality, supervision, and stop authority must match site risk. A signed form without briefed hazards is paperwork, not duty of care in practice.

Minimum operating set

  • Risk-matched induction (not a generic slideshow for every trade)
  • Named site contact who is reachable during the work
  • Permit or work controls where relevant
  • Incident reporting aligned with the host employer’s system

Supervision reality check

If your supervisors cannot explain what the contractor is doing today and under which controls, you do not have site control — you have hope.
